Phillip Dexter
Dr Phillip Dexter is a member of the ANC, and Chief Political Advisor to the Chief Whip of the ANC Parliamentary Caucus. He entered politics as a student activist in the 1980s, after which he was forced into exile. On his return he joined the Trade Union movement and was elected General Secretary of NEHAWU. He served on the NEC of the ANC, the CC of the SACP and led the National Economic Development and Labour Council. He left the ANC with other senior members to form a new party in 2009, the Congress of the People (COPE) but returned to the ANC in 2011.
